🛑 Breaking News: Amarnath Yatra Registration via Banks Likely to Start from April 15 Instead of April 14 Due to Ambedkar Jayanti
In a surprising oversight, the government had earlier announced April 14, 2025 as the starting date for Amarnath Yatra 2025 registration via designated banks. However, April 14 is Ambedkar Jayanti, a national holiday, and all banks across India remain closed on this day.
📌 What Happened?
The Jammu & Kashmir administration issued an official notification for the commencement of Yatra registration on April 14. But since Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti is observed as a public holiday, bank branches will not operate, making registration practically impossible on that day.
This appears to be an administrative lapse, as Ambedkar Jayanti is a fixed national holiday and widely known across all government calendars.
📱 Online Registration Also Likely to Be Delayed
Not just banks, but the online registration process was also scheduled to begin on April 14. However, since Ambedkar Jayanti is observed as a public holiday in Jammu & Kashmir as well, there’s a strong possibility that online registration will also begin from April 15 instead.
Though no official update has been released yet by the Shrine Board, such logistical delays are expected given the circumstances.
🔔 Advisory for Pilgrims
- Pilgrims are advised not to plan bank registration on April 14.
- Bank counters will start registration from April 15, 2025 onwards.
- Online portals like jksasb.nic.in are also expected to become active only after April 14.
📢 Appeal to the Government
The authorities should issue a revised circular at the earliest to avoid confusion and misinformation among lakhs of devotees planning to register for the Yatra.
